| Ever been in a situation where you had the opportunity to be humble OR “were humbled?” I have… When I was a “younGER man” I worked in my father’s small company and we were given sales routes to cover certain areas in the country. … guess which route I was given… the son of the boss… THE WORST sales route of ALL of them… My father knew very well that if I was going to learn ANYTHING…it was to be humble. And he also knew that since I was the son of the boss, I was NOT going to be given any “flavors” or benefits just because of my relations. I remember it very well… I would earn much, much less than the other salesmen, but I was still very proud of what I was able to accomplish and it made me work even harder to increase the sales on my route…it made me look for Other, New Ways to do things, improve things…I pushed myself and I also tried to glean some insights of what the Best Salesmen did in the company so that I could excel even more. So, given ANY CHANCE to be Humble.. In all kinds of scenarios, take the “opportunity” to be humble and you will see others start noticing that and good things will come from it…both internally and externally. PS. Additional story: I remember one time a few friends of mine and I, …I think we were about 3 or 4 friends …were going to drive somewhere.. And we were together with a pretty High Powered person…all dressed up in a suit and tie… and my friend only had room for three people in the front seat….and in the back, there was just an open room and a little “Box Type of thing” to sit on…and it was NOT clean there either….. … guess who “CHOSE TO GO IN THE BACK” and sits on the Box? … I remember that to this very day and I respected that so much… he was not going to “pull any excuses” for why he needed to sit up front because of who he was or what clothes he was wearing. TIP: Be humble whenever given the opportunity. To your success, … I am just saying… Do “Suummmthing” about it and see the change it will make for you.
